Microsoft Announces Largest Investment in Germany to Accelerate AI Capabilities and Expand Cloud Infrastructure
Microsoft has announced its largest investment in Germany in its 40-year history, planning to invest €3.2 billion over the next two years to expand its cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in the country. The company aims to double its capacity by expanding its cloud region in Frankfurt and building new infrastructures in North Rhine-Westphalia. This investment will help meet the growing demand for AI-specific computing power and cloud solutions in Germany. Microsoft also plans to train more than 1.2 million people in digital skills by the end of 2025. The company's AI services and infrastructure will be operated in accordance with industry-leading practices for responsible AI and sustainability, with a commitment to achieving 100% use of renewable energy for the company's operations, including its data centers, by 2025.
