In January 2024, a partnership was announced between OVHcloud and Data4 to host OVHcloud's liquid cooling solution at Data4's site in Marcoussis, which has resulted in a 25% saving on electricity consumption compared to conventional air cooling. Several tech giants, including Google, Microsoft, and Facebook, are also exploring liquid cooling solutions for their data centers. Data centers, which process and store vast amounts of data, are turning to liquid cooling to manage heat and energy challenges. Liquid cooling uses water or special coolants to absorb and dissipate heat from electronic components, offering a more efficient heat transfer than traditional air cooling. The benefits of liquid cooling include improved energy efficiency, space-saving, reduced noise and maintenance, and reduced carbon emissions. However, the technology requires a higher initial investment and specialist skills for installation and maintenance.
