AirTrunk Partners with Pekat Solar to Develop Rooftop Solar at Johor Bahru Data Center, Contributing to Net Zero Goal by 2030
AirTrunk, a hyperscale data center specialist in Asia Pacific & Japan, has signed an agreement with Pekat Solar to develop rooftop solar at its Johor Bahru (JHB1) campus. This is AirTrunk's first onsite renewable generation initiative in the region, furthering its goal of achieving Net Zero by 2030. The solar generation system at JHB1 will provide 1 megawatt (MW) of renewable energy. This is in addition to AirTrunk's larger renewable virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA), the first for a data center in Malaysia under Malaysia’s Corporate Green Power Programme. AirTrunk JHB1, which opened in July, incorporates energy efficiency throughout its design, including the first direct-to-chip liquid cooling technology, reducing energy consumption by up to 23%.
